ETHNOL. [En parlant de la résidence d'un couple] Qui est déterminée par le lieu de résidence du père du mari. Anton. matrilocal. On observe deux catégories contradictoires de résidence: celle-ci est matrilocale si le fiancé va demeurer dans la famille de sa femme, et patrilocale quand la fiancée se rend dans la demeure de son futur mari (LOWIE, Anthropol. cult., trad. par E. Métraux, 1936, p.266).
